Savage Empire Extra Stuff

Below is a jumbled mash of extra stuff from the game, some of which contains spoilers. Continue at your own risk.

Drum Hill

TuomaxxStand.jpg

Located roughly halfway between the Yolaru Village and the Nahuatla city of Tichticatl, Drum Hill is a small mesa in the center of the Valley of Eodon. An ancient, potentially mythical, warrior named Oloro-of-no-tribe once united the many tribes of the valley against a single threat. This was done by first performing small tasks for the chiefs of the tribes, and then summoning them by beating on a large drum on top of this hill. If the Avatar wishes to get home, he must follow in Oloro's footsteps.

On Drum Hill lives Tuomaxx, one of "The Three Stooges" of the game (Combined with the Disquiqui chief and shaman, the three men are literal representations of The Three Stooges). Tuomaxx was once the shaman of the Disquiqui Tribe, but in a duel with another shaman (of the Barrab Tribe), Tuomaxx was convinced that his mind had been placed into a small blue stone. This led to him being banished from his tribe, and ending up on Drum Hill. Thankfully, he's still good at making drums, and will happily make the biggest drum he can for the Avatar as long as he's provided with the proper Hide materials.

Denys the Artist

DenysStand.jpg

Denys is an outcast from the Urali Tribe who left just after the Avatar arrived in the valley. Denys is a gifted artist who felt like he had no choice but to leave when Darden the Huge commissioned a wedding portrait of himself to Aiela. Darden desired that the painting make it look like she came willingly. When Denys refused to do it, he was forced to flee the Urali swamp or die.

Depending on who is in the party the first time the Avatar speaks with Denys, the Avatar will receive a unique portrait picture. If Aiela has already been rescued before speaking to Denys (which is possible as he is in a remote cave), then the Avatar will receive a portrait of her. If she has not been rescued, Denys will paint a portrait of the Avatar. The portraits serve no purpose, but are a fun unique item.

Denys is based on Denis Loubet, one of Origin's long-time artists and the one who drew the cover of The Savage Empire.

Conversing with Darden the Huge

If you really want to, you can talk to Darden after rescuing Aiela. Depending on if you've already saved the statue of Fabozz, Darden will say something different. If Fabozz has been saved, Darden complains that you took away his chiefhood. If you haven't, he mocks you for coming back for a second beating.

Conversing with Myrmidex

Although most of the Myrmidex are little more than warrior drones bent on killing everything that isn't Myrmidex, there are actually two of them that can speak the common language of the valley. The first one isn't surprising, it's the Queen of the hive. The other one, however, is her second in command, Chizzztl. Below is the image of his conversation, the Queen's location, and a video of me making him kill her (which was just funny).

The Abandoned Pindiro Village

The Pindiro were once much more powerful than they currently are. They had a great village on top of a mesa in the northern section of the valley, where only a single bridge allowed access. However, they did not anticipate the myrmidex digging their way up into the town square. The myrmidex laid waste to the Pidiro village, forcing them to abandon their original home. Now that village is home to ant warriors, a lone, quiet, modern explorer named Seggallion, and a wealth of treasure.

1. Tall Tree (You need to equip a grenade and attack the tree to make it fall over and give you access to the abandoned village)

2. Weapons Stockpile Building (300 bullets, 100 arrows, 12 grenades, and some random gemstones)

3. Supply Room (important items include a hide, a rope, a modern riffle, and 100 bullets)

4. Myrmidex Cave Entrance (takes you to one of the farthest entrances from the queen. Use a rope on the entrance to get in)

5. Seggallion area. He is usually at the water, but sometimes goes into one of the huts.

6. Dinosaur Egg Room (nothing of value here, but it's the only place that has a dinosaur egg, which is neat)

AB1.jpg

The Modern Man found wandering around the village is Seggallion, a treasure hunter of very few words. His main obsession is finding diamonds (which is probably why there is a vase filled with them), and he is paranoid that the Avatar is there to take them.

Seggallion only lets the Avatar say one thing in each conversation, ending the dialogue immediately afterwards. The only thing he responds to, however, are the names of Origin staff members and a few previous games. In other words, he's a paranoid Easter Egg for avid fans, but little else. He is, however, the only character in the game who'll swear, if the right command is put in (no, I won't tell you what it is).

Love and Endings

It's downplayed quite a bit, but there are technically two romance options for the Avatar during his time in the Valley of Eodon. If the Avatar uses the command "love" with either Aiela or her pseudo-sister Tristia, they will ask if he really means it. If he says yes, he cannot change his mind.

Telling either of the sisters that you love them will add 2-3 extra scenes to the ending credits. The game definitely makes it clear that if you're going to do the romance thing, there's a right answer and a wrong one. Neither, however, are required. Loving either of the women changes nothing about the actual story of the game. The extra slides added to the ending are below:
