The Allies and Enemies of the Two Worlds

Spread throughout the worlds of both Terra and Valoria are a number of allies and enemies who are there to serve as your guides, obstacles, or targets.

The following is a comprehensive list and general description of every character in the game, split by whether they want to help you or kill you. The information on this page will be updated as more becomes available.

Some things are going to be misspelled. Not because we do not know how to spell the words, but because they are misspelled within the game, and we are maintaining accuracy. The first example is for Selina, who at one points resides in Lascaux. However, in the game they spell it with an 'o': Lascoux.

The Allies
(in roughly the order they appear)

Garwayen

Gar1.png

Garwayen is the Magister of Magic for the Grand Council of Lord Wizards. It's a very long title that, essentially, states that he runs the wizard's council of Valaria. Or, at least, he used to. Ever since the rift between Valoria and Terra was discovered, he's been at odds with the rest of the council. They want to expand the rift, extending their power into Terra to add another realm to their collection. Garwayen, however, believes that expanding the rift will destroy both worlds, canceling each other out in the same way that matter and antimatter do.

Garwayen has summoned you, an individual who was born under the same stars that he was, to become a wizard and oust the Lord Wizards before they can complete their plan. Ousting, however, is code for killing.

Garwayen's past is a bit of a mystery. On the one hand, he claims that Ur-reth, the Lord of the Mind Domain, was his original master. However, his distant descendant, Jack Hendricks, knows about a family story in which Garwayen's brother, Darwayen, challenged the Fire Lord in combat, and lost miserably. So either Garwayen has been in charge for far less time than he claims, or the family history got it wrong.

David Greenbriar

DavidGreenbriar.png

David is an American druid from Cleveland who spends his time in or around Stonehenge to perform rituals for tourists, and to sell the occasional knickknack. He is also a consummate hippy, whose extracurricular activities leave his mind more open to the world of magic.

He is often plagued by bad dreams that are sent by the Lords of Magic. They know that he is there to help you, and they don't like it.

He is one of the main providers of Jewels in the beginning of the game, and he is one of only a few allies who never moves to a different location. The main types of aspects he sells surround Earth Magic, but he is often sent visions about magic of all kinds. No matter how bad the economy is (and it can get bad late-game), David will always pay top dollar for pomegranates. He can't get enough of them.

Selina Dyle

Selina.png
Selina2.png
Selina3.png

Selina is the descendant of a powerful witch who was running around during the Salem Witch trials. She always found it amusing how many non-witches were killed during the trials, while her grandmother ran around without an ounce of suspicion. In fact, when you first meet her, Selina is playing the part of a Puritan in Salem at a tourist trap.

She is one of the most required allies to visit, not just because she becomes Robert's love interest throughout the story, but because without providing her with the right items, you literally cannot win the game.

Her inventory changes quite a bit as the game progresses, but for the most part she sells Powders and aspects that deal with the Air Domain. Later on she begins selling aspects from every Domain, though.

Locations:

1. Salem, Massachusetts

2. Agra, India

3. Lascoux, France

Senora Espirita

Medicine Woman Name1.png
Medicine Woman2.png

Senora Espirita is a mysterious medicine woman from Central America. For the first third of the game, she doesn't even tell you what her name is. It seems, however, that her connection with magic is slightly stronger than most, as she has conversations with spirits, and seems to know a little magic of her own.

Her inventory is almost exclusively based in the Fire Domain, even down to the fact that the one component she sells is the only one that gets set on fire, Candles. Although she does move once during the game, she doesn't go very far, moving from one Central American pyramid to another.

Locations:

1. Teotihuacan, Mexico

2. Palenque, Mexico

Lawrence Thockmorton

OldMan.png
OldMan3.png

Referred to simply as "Old Man" or "Old Tourist" for most of the game, Lawrence Thockmorton is with you from the very beginning of the game as an ally who is deeply connected to the Water Domain. He is fascinated with treasures that have been lost on the bottom of the oceans. The fact that those treasures then found their way to the Water Domain is not as important to him, but definitely interesting.

Considering Thockmorton's interest in the water, it is no surprise that his inventory is primarily filled with aspects of the Water Domain, along with the components of Stones.

Locations:

1. Pompeii, Italy

2. Loch Ness, Scotland

3. Easter Island, Pacific Ocean

Chen Xiong

ChenXiong.png
ChenXiong2.png
ChenXiong3.png

Chen Xiong is an archaeologist who is trying to connect the ancient peoples of the world. He is convinced that at least one group of Native Americans, the mound builders of Ohio, were actually ancient Egyptians who were forced to cross the Atlantic Ocean at the whim of an ancient god (or possibly a Lord of Magic).

Through his studies, he has come to the conclusion that any time there was a great upheaval in the world of Terra, it corresponded to a major fight in the realm of Valoria. He says that the two realms are more connected than most people realize, which indicates that the rift has been open for a lot longer than anyone believed.

1. Great Serpent Mound, Ohio

2. Angkor Wat, Cambodia

3. Great Wall, China

Ali ibn Mustaph

AliMustaph.png

Ali is a very greedy man in Egypt who is always on the lookout for a way to make a quick buck. He is not exactly trustworthy, but he has a lot of underworld connections that give him access to a lot of information that most other people could not obtain.

In addition to information, he is an invaluable source of aspects of the Mind Domain, and while he does not carry as many as David Greenbriar, he is a cheap source of Jewels for a short amount of time.

Unlike most of the other allies, Ali does not stick around for very long, so be sure to make use of his store before he packs up and disappears.

1. Giza, Egypt

Lotus Flower

Geisha1.png
Geisha2.png

A geisha from Japan, Lotus Flower is a storyteller who is deeply connected to the Domains of Fire and Air. Throughout your journey, she tells a story about a samurai warrior and a fire geyser, both of which play into your own adventures.

Towards the end of the game, she begins to compose your tale into a story of its own, so that future generations will remember you just as well as legends of old.

Locations:

1. Mt. Fuji, Japan

2. Lhasa, Tibet

Navaho Medicine Man

Navaho3.png
Navaho1.png
Navaho2.png

The Navaho Medicine Man never passes on his name, choosing instead to live a life of anonymity. He commonly speaks with the spirits, and they guide him, and therefore you, in your quest to defeat the Lord Wizards. He knows many ancient formulas, but that knowledge makes him a target for the wizards.

His main goal is to find his way back to the land of his people, as he believes he is not long for the world. One of his greatest concerns is that he feels pulled between two people, you, and another who is your equal in all things. He knows that one of you is evil, but neither he nor the spirits can decide which one.

2. Haiti, Caribbean

3. Mesa Verde, Colorado

Jack Hendricks

JackHendricks1.png
JackHendricks2.png

Hendricks is a paleontologist who doesn't believe in magic. This is ironic since, once he starts digging into his family's past, he discovers that he is descended from Garwayne, himself. For most of the time you know him, he tries to scientifically prove one way or another â€‹â€‹â€‹whether or not magic is real. The fact that he's one of the few people who can see you running around the world in a cape and carrying a sword apparently isn't enough.

He provides a great deal of information throughout the story, including the revelation that the two of you might be very distant cousins, and his final location plays a pivotal role in your mission.

Locations:

1. Dinosaur Provincial Park, Alberta

2. Dry Gulch, Arizona

Natalye Rakoczi

Nat.png

Romanian officer, Natalye Rakoczi has a very straight-forward approach to the incursion of magical beings into the world of Terra: shoot first, sort it out later. Her main role is as a protection officer for Dracula's castle, where she and her team both protect tourists and excavate the castle.

Although she doesn't quite believe that the supernatural is real, but the things she's seen with her own eyes can't let her ignore the possibility. One of the main things she does is uncover ancient magical formulas left behind in blood on the castle walls. Which is just... pleasant.

1. Transylvania, Romania

Pendragon Clerke

PendragonClerke1.png
PendragonClerke2.png

One of the last allies to join you is Pendragon Clerke. he is a philosopher and professor who is weirdly connected to the realm of Valoria, especially the Domain of Ether. He is also a colleague of Chen Xiong, which is how he is first introduced to you.

One of the biggest problems, however, is that demons love to impersonate him. Especially in his first location. When getting information from him, be ready to escape back to your lab often.

Locations:

1. Istanbul, Turkey

2. Trincomalee, Sri Lanka

Spiros Talos

SpirosTalos1.png

Spiros Talos is the last ally to join your cause, and, arguably, the least helpful. He provides some aspects for high-level spells, and a few formulas for the final spells, themselves. But otherwise there is very little known about who he is, why he's suddenly helping you, or what his plans are. He is a shepherd (misspelled shephard in the game), and very philosophical, but other than that, he just hangs out in Greece for the last stages of the game.

The Enemies
(in no particular order)

The enemies within Valoria are the Lord Wizards and their Minions. In order to complete  your mission, you have to face all twelve of the wizards, in their own territories, and emerge victorious. This section will list the wizards in realm order, which is not necessarily how you'll encounter them, and will provide what little information is known about them.

Earth Domain
Lord Wizard Arnocht the Great
Minion Wizard John Cartwright

EarthLordAlive.png
EarthMinionAlive.png

Arnocht the Great is the main antagonist throughout most of the game. It is he who sets most of the challenges you have to face after you learn the basics of the game, and he constantly insults both you and your mentor. He is one of the oldest wizards, and the most arrogant.

John Cartwright, the Earth Minion, is a woodcutter who was recruited into the world of magic seemingly against his will. He does not want to fight you, and believes that if the circumstances had been different, you'd have been good friends. This does not stop him, however, from chasing David Greenbriar in his dreams with his axe.

Air Domain
Lord Wizard Lady Sakato
Minion Wizard Anya Bavarich

In one of the great ironies of the game, The Lord of Air, Lady Sakato, is the famous samurai warrior of the fire geyser that Lotus Flower talks about in her storytelling. Despite being the Lord of Air, she has a fiery personality, and longs to see the mountains of Japan once more.

Anya Bavarich, meanwhile, was once a Russian aristocrat who has, either through natural talent or through her association with Lady Sakato, has developed a very snobbish personality. She refuses to accept that someone as poor bred as yourself could defeat her in a fight, and will throw everything she has at you to prove it.

Fire Domain
Lord Wizard Don Diego y Garcia
Minion Wizard Timmy Flanagan

Don Diego y Garcia was a Spanish conquistador who was among the first Europeans to invade Central America. He left a trail of bodies and burned buildings behind him, making him the perfect candidate to overthrow the previous Lord of Fire, Sir Adolphus Piedmonte.

Timmy Flanagan, meanwhile, was a gangster from the 1920s who knew men like Al Capone. Not only is he more than willing to kill you for his master, he's been prepping for it since the moment Garwayne brought you to Valoria.

Water Domain
Lord Wizard Quechequatl
Minion Wizard Mahmoud

Very little is known about the two wizards of the Water Domain beyond the fact that they are both obsessed with keeping the oceans clean. Quechequatl, the Water Lord, was once an Aztec shaman. It is very possible that he was personally acquainted with the Lord of Fire back when they lived in Terra. And by acquainted, it's possible Don Diego y Garcia was directly responsible for Quechequatl's spirit moving on to Valoria.

Even less is known about Mahmoud. It is possible that he is meant to be Mahmud of Ghazni, the first Middle Eastern ruler to take on the title of sultan. Though how that applies to the Domain of Water is unclear.

Ether Domain
Lord Wizard Empedocles
Minion Wizard Gilgalumish

Empedocles, the Lord of Ether, was not only an ancient philosopher, but was the man who taught the Greek philosopher Socrates. Garwayne describes him as a pompous windbag, which is possibly true, but he is undeniably intelligent. He also reigns over one of the most difficult to navigate realms, keeping his head among the stars.

Gilgalumish (possibly a misspelling of the Sumerian king, Gilgamesh), is from the Sumerian city of Ur (much like his namesake). What is strange about him being a Minion Wizard is not that he's associated with Ether (the mythological character Gilgamesh was 2/3rds god, after all), but the fact that Sumer existed a few thousand years before Greece. Which means the Minion Gilgalumish is much, much, older than his master, Empedocles.

Mind Domain
Lord Wizard Ur-reth
Minion Wizard Ankh-Aten

The Lord and Minion of the Mind Domain both put on the faces of other people, making it difficult to put their true pictures here without spoilers (see the Walkthrough Section to see their true faces).

In any case, Ur-reth, the Lord Wizard of the Mind, is actually the oldest of all the Lord Wizards. He was born when humanity was still living in caves, painting on walls. It was Ur-reth who recruited Garwayne from Terra, and brought him to Valoria. Garwayne, however, decided not to become tied to the Mind Domain, believing that it slowly drove mad anyone who remained there for too long.

The Minion of the Mind Domain, meanwhile, is a forgotten pharaoh of Egypt, Ankh-Aten. When first encountered, he pretends to be your doppelganger, taking on your face to break your spirit. The ankh is a symbol of Egyptian religion, a cross with a rounded top. Aten, meanwhile, is an Egyptian god who, at one point, was considered the creator god of Egypt. It was he who drove a band of Egyptians mad by forcing them to cross the Atlantic to settle in Ohio before being driven even farther south into Central America.
