Terra and the 7 Domains of Valoria
Terra

One of the most important places within the game is Terra (also known as Earth).

It is within Terra that you find your allies to get information, spell components, equipment (on occasion), and new spell formulas. Each of your allies is in search of ancient texts to help you as much as they can, and they often provide a lot of information with regards to gaining new spells (assuming you are using the game's booklet, and not the spell guide section of this website).

At the beginning of the game, you only have four allies helping you, but by the end you will have gained and lost some along the way, while others will have moved to different parts of the world to avoid getting hurt by the lord wizards of Valoria.

Individual Allies will be discussed in the Allies and Enemies section, but each one tends to offer aspects and components for specific colleges of magic. For instance, David Greenbriar, the ally who hangs out in and around Stonehenge, sells components that are mostly associated with the Earth Domain.

If you run out of money and try to fly from one destination to the next, a demon will appear and kill you, sending you to the Death Domain. Technically, escaping from the Death Domain will return you to your workshop, but if you collect the Big Chest you'll gain 2 Pomegranates.

Pomegranates come in three varieties, regular, golden, and sapphire. Though it varies based on where you're at, Pomegranates sell for big bucks. The standard prices are:

Regular Pomegranates - $10,000
Golden Pomegranates - $25,000
Sapphire Pomegranates - $50,000

Seriously, Terrans are obsessed with pomegranates, so sometimes dying isn't a bad idea if you're short on cash.

There are two scenarios where this process will not work. The first is if you have any kind of Pomegranate in your inventory. The game will remind you you have an item to sell that can give you money, then return you to whatever city you're trying to fly out of.

The other way this process won't work is if you try to do this more than once during any game section (game sections are reset whenever all the domains are made available again, or when the current part of your quest is completed). If you try to do this twice in the same game section, you die. Permanently. It's an instant Game Over.

While all components and aspects can be found within the magical domains, Terra is the main place to get them. Most allies only sell one of the four components (Jewels, Powders, Candles, and Stones), and each ally sells them at different prices. So, you'll likely be spending a lot of time in Terra, flying from one city to the next in order to get all the things you need for your spells.
Valoria

Valoria is made up of seven different Domains, six of which are each associated with a single element of magic. The seventh Domain is the Death Domain, which is only visited under certain circumstances, and which has its own unique rules.

When exploring each Domain, the goal is to either kill all the enemies or the enemy wizard hanging around in the Domain (or both). You will spend a lot of time in the Domains, and you will deal out a great deal of death. In rare occasions, your only goal will be to grab a Big Chest and then leave (with killing being optional).

Some spells don't work in certain Domains (in the Mind Domain, for instance, no spell that affects movement (like Magic Wings or Teleport) are not available). In addition, as the game progresses, the maps of the Domains shift around. The pictures below show all of the possible maps of the Domains. Typically, the maps progress in the order shown. However, sometimes older maps will appear in the Domains, testing your memory and reflexes.

Some Domains, like the third Air Domain, require knowing specific spells like Magic Wings or Teleport just to get around. The Water Domain requires having the spell of Water Breath, unless you want to be using a lot of Star Healing.

Stonehenge can be found in every Domain. It will damage enemies who walk into it, but enemies also damage it. If the Stonehenge gets destroyed, you have to enter and then escape from the Death Domain to restore it.
Earth Domain
The Earth Domain is one of the safest of the Domains, at least at first. Stepping into water hurts a little, and stepping onto a pit will result in a quick trip to the Death Domain, but other than that there's very little to fear here. Simply take out all the enemies, and boy, there are a lot of enemies, and you'll return home scared, but victorious.

Air Domain
One of the first Domains you encounter, and one of the deadliest, the Domain of Air will have you walking on, and sometimes through, the clouds. The Domain is filled with illusions, which are immune to physical magic, but the biggest issue is the gaps between the clouds. Step off the cloud cover, and you'll catch up with the earth very quickly.

Fire Domain
The Domain of Fire is filled with deep pools and rivers of lava. Stepping into one deals significant damage up front, then continues to hurt the longer you're in it. The good news is, it hurts enemies too. Despite the danger, the Fire Domain has some of the best items in the game, ranging from tablets that teach you magic words to rings that protect you from all but the sharpest swords.

Water Domain
The Water Domain is the only of the original four disciplines that is inaccessible at the beginning of the game. In order to visit the Water Domain, you must first discover the spell, Water Breath. If that spell is not active, you will lose a large chunk of your life, and your breath, every few seconds as you drown. In addition, deep chasms lead to certain death for the unwary wizard.

Ether Domain
The Ether is the Domain of the stars. In this case, literally. While in the Ether Domain, you must make your way over constellations and planets, fighting just as hard to find a safe place to stand as to find your enemies. It is one of the most difficult Domains to traverse, requiring Magic Wings just to potentially stay safe. A slight misstep, or the end of Magic Wings at the wrong time, will result in falling through the stars to your death.

Mind Domain
The Mind Domain is a literal maze. Spells that alter your movement, like Magic Wings, Ghost Walk, or Teleport, don't work in this Domain, which means the only way to get around is by hoofing it. Scattered throughout the Domain are small panels that will lift you, or any other entity, into the air, allowing you access to walking on top of the walls. But be warned, being knocked off the walls can put you miles away from your destination, with no easy way back.

Death Domain
Dying in any of the above Domains, to a demon in an airport (see Terra section above), or by failing to create a new spell correctly will result in you going to the Death Domain.

For most of the game, no magic works within the Death Domain (there is one exception that will be dealt with in the Walkthrough). This means that not only can spells not be cast, but the basic spells you take for granted, like having the map revealed or knowing how many enemies there are there, also don't work.

If you die in the Death Domain, it's game over. To escape, find Stonehenge and walk inside it.
